Opened on March 16, 2024, CPKC Stadium is the world’s first stadium purpose-built for a women’s professional sports team, serving as the home of the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Located at Berkley Riverfront Park along the Missouri River, the $117 million, privately financed venue was spearheaded by co-owners Angie Long, Chris Long, and Brittany Mahomes, with construction beginning October 6, 2022. Designed by Generator Studio, the 11,500-seat stadium, expandable to 20,500, features every seat within 100 feet of the pitch, a safe standing section for supporters, and premium suites. Named after Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) in a 10-year naming rights deal announced in 2023, it hosted a historic 5–4 victory over the Portland Thorns on opening day and sold out every 2024 NWSL home match. The stadium, which earned LEED Gold certification in November 2024 for sustainability with 180 solar panels and reusable drinkware, also hosted the 2024 Big 12 Women’s Soccer Tournament, the 2025 NCAA Women’s College Cup, and a U.S. Women’s Rugby Team match on May 2, 2025, setting a U.S. women’s rugby attendance record of 10,518. A 2025 U.S. Women’s National Team match is scheduled for October 29.
