Opened on June 2, 2001, with an ARCA race won by Jason Jarrett, Kansas Speedway is a 1.5-mile tri-oval intermediate speedway in Kansas City’s Village West, built by the International Speedway Corporation (ISC) at a cost of $287 million to bring NASCAR to the Midwest. Since its inaugural season, it has hosted major racing series, including two NASCAR Cup Series weekends annually—the AdventHealth 400 and Hollywood Casino 400, a playoff race—alongside the NASCAR Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 300 and Craftsman Truck Series. Known for NASCAR’s closest finish in 2011, the Speedway added a 2.37-mile infield road course in 2012 and introduced progressive banking (17–20 degrees) after a 2012 repave, earning driver praise. With a capacity of 48,000, down from a peak of 82,000, it hosts 200+ event days yearly, including the American Royal World Series of Barbecue. Adjacent to the Hollywood Casino, which overlooks Turn 2, the Speedway offers fan experiences like pre-race pit passes and NASCAR Racing Experience drives. Open for events like the September 26–28, 2025, NASCAR Playoffs, it’s ADA-compliant with accessible seating and parking.
