Enter from the east side. The established entry point is on the east (West Bottoms, Missouri) side, near Hy-Vee Arena — this is also where the more complete accessible stairs and ramp work has been concentrated. The pedestrian path is narrower than a typical riverfront trail. The bridge's pedestrian crossing runs along the north side of the lower level — described by trail planners as a narrower pathway than the paved multi-use trails on either end. Cyclists are asked to dismount and walk their bikes across; the same narrower width is worth knowing about if you're planning to bring a full-size mobility scooter onto the bridge deck itself, as opposed to the West Bottoms side trails and entertainment district, which are built to standard accessible-path widths.
