Damage Waiver

Damage Waiver Terms

Version v1.1-2026-09-17 · Effective 2026-09-17

Most rentals wrap up with zero damage. This explains the optional waiver in plain English — what it covers and what it doesn't — so you can decide with confidence, not confusion. Questions? Just call (913) 775-1098.

What the damage waiver covers

The optional damage waiver protects you from out-of-pocket charges for accidental damage to the rented equipment during the rental period.

When you opt in, you pay a per-day-per-item fee (currently $10/day per mobility scooter and $5/day per manual item — wheelchair, transport chair, knee scooter, or rollator) added at checkout. The waiver applies to every item on the reservation — it''s all-or-nothing. We don''t support per-item selection, because in practice damage often involves multiple components (e.g., a tipped scooter scratches a basket and a controller).

What the waiver does NOT cover

The waiver does not cover:

  • Loss or theft of the equipment. You remain financially responsible for the manufacturer''s replacement cost if equipment is lost or stolen during the rental.
  • Negligence or reckless use, including operating under the influence, exceeding the posted weight capacity, modifying the equipment, or letting unauthorized third parties operate it.
  • Cosmetic damage we already documented at delivery. The handoff inspection is your chance to flag anything pre-existing.

How damage is assessed

When the equipment is returned, our team inspects it. If damage is found beyond ordinary wear and tear:

1. We document the damage with photos.
2. We assess the cost: parts at market rate, labor at no charge.
3. If you have the waiver, the cost is covered up to the equipment''s replacement value.
4. If you declined the waiver, we charge the documented amount to the card saved securely with our payment processor (Stripe), never on our servers.

You receive a copy of the damage report either way.

Important: charging your batteries

The waiver does not cover damage caused by failure to charge the equipment. Mobility scooter batteries must be charged nightly (or after each significant use) — failure to do so can permanently damage the battery cells, which is your responsibility regardless of waiver status.
