By KC Mobility Scooter Rentals Updated

Senior living facility administrators across the Kansas City metro: this page covers our mobility-equipment pickup service for your buildings. Independent living, assisted living, memory care — all served. Free in most cases, scheduled within a week, with a written pickup list if your finance team needs one.

The two pickup patterns we see

Per-resident pickup

A resident moved out or passed away. Their family-owned mobility equipment is in the room. Family lives out of state, or just doesn't have the bandwidth to figure out the disposal logistics. Your social worker or community manager texts us photos, we coordinate a pickup time with the family by phone, we come once, equipment is gone.

This pattern works because:

  • The family doesn't have to deal with strangers from a Marketplace listing
  • Your facility doesn't accumulate equipment in the back hallway waiting for the family to "figure it out"
  • The room is reset for the next resident faster

Facility-decommission pickup

The facility itself is replacing its loaner fleet, retiring older units, or doing a wing-by-wing inventory refresh. We pick up the whole batch — wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, hoyer lifts, beds, batteries — in one visit, with the right vehicle for the volume.

This pattern works for:

  • Renovation cleanouts
  • License changes (skilled nursing → assisted living, etc.)
  • Annual fleet refreshes
  • New ownership transitions

What we'll pick up

Free haul-away of:

  • Mobility scooters (any brand)
  • Manual wheelchairs (any brand, including bariatric)
  • Power wheelchairs (any brand)
  • Walkers, rollators, transport chairs, knee scooters — in bulk only (single units from a private home are usually not worth the trip)
  • Hospital beds — manual, semi-electric, full electric, bariatric
  • Hoyer lifts, patient lifts, sit-to-stand machines
  • Bedside commodes, transfer benches, shower chairs (in bulk)
  • Wheelchair ramps (aluminum or metal)
  • Stair lifts (installed or uninstalled — we haul as-is)
  • Mobility batteries (recycled at licensed lead/lithium recyclers)

We do NOT pick up oxygen concentrators, IV poles, programmable medication carts, or Class II/III regulated DME — those need a compliant DME-recycler route.

What it costs

Usually free. When the inventory mix includes refurbishable items (working wheelchairs, scooters with intact batteries, recent hospital beds, hoyer lifts in good condition), we recover trip costs through refurbishment, parts harvest, and battery recycling.

Flat fee for pickups that are entirely worn-out / non-recoverable (rusted frames, dead batteries, beds beyond repair). Quoted per-pickup, not per-item, and you see the number before we schedule.

We don't bill per-item. We don't add fees mid-pickup. The quote you approve is the number.

Recordkeeping, in plain terms

If your facilities or finance team wants documentation of what was picked up for internal asset records:

  • We bring a printed pickup list at the visit.
  • Each item is described (e.g., "Pride Victory 10 mobility scooter, asset tag MSR-022, condition: working with old battery, disposition: refurbish-resell").
  • Both parties sign at pickup.
  • We email a PDF copy after.

This is internal recordkeeping, not regulatory compliance. The mobility and transfer equipment we pick up doesn't store patient data — there's no PHI/HIPAA process to coordinate, no chain-of-custody scope. If your team has previously worked with regulated-DME recyclers and is expecting that level of paperwork, this is simpler.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Frequently asked questions.

Do you work with assisted-living and memory-care facilities?
Yes — regularly. Two pickup patterns: per-resident (after a death or move-out, the resident's family-owned mobility equipment needs to leave the room) and facility-decommission (the facility is replacing or retiring its own loaner equipment). Both pickup types are usually free given the typical mobility-equipment mix.
What if the equipment is facility-owned vs resident-owned?
Doesn't matter for the pickup logistics. We just need the appropriate person (resident, family, facilities team, or activities director, depending on ownership) to authorize the pickup at the door. Quote the contact you need us to coordinate with when you book.
Do you provide a list of what was picked up?
Yes — if your facilities or finance team needs a list for internal asset records, we'll write one out at pickup. Item description, model where applicable, condition note, signed by both parties. Just ask when we quote.
How do you schedule with the facility?
Standard flow: email or call with the facility name, contact, and rough inventory. Same-day or next-day quote response. Pickup within 5-10 business days usually. Same-week available for time-sensitive cleanouts (renovation, license change, emergency closure).
