Burns & McDonnell’s world headquarters in south Kansas City is one of the metro’s most architecturally distinctive corporate campuses — a multi-building employee-owned engineering firm that has expanded its footprint significantly over the past decade. The main campus on Ward Parkway includes the original HQ buildings plus newer towers, all connected by indoor walkways and an organizing landscape that’s pleasant to look at but adds genuine distance for anyone navigating it on foot.
For visiting clients, consulting partners, multi-week project teams from out of town, and employees coordinating accommodations during recovery windows, mobility delivery makes long days on the campus physically sustainable.
Why mobility delivery makes sense at Burns & McDonnell
Three common patterns:
Client visits. A multi-day client engagement at Burns & McDonnell often involves morning briefings in one building, lunch in the cafeteria, afternoon design reviews in a different building, and end-of-day debriefs back at the executive offices. Step counts grow quickly. For clients with mobility considerations — older executives, recent-surgery cases, anyone managing a chronic condition — a hotel-delivered scooter changes the trip.
Project-team rotations. Consulting partners and subcontractors often spend 1-4 weeks on-site during major project phases. Weekly and monthly rental terms cover this cleanly.
Employee accommodations. Post-surgery return-to-work, temporary mobility limits during recovery, or longer-term accommodation needs. HR arrangements are direct with us; we don’t need medical context to deliver the right equipment.
The delivery workflow
Standard process: book online, pick a Plaza-area or Overland Park hotel, and we stage the scooter at the bell stand before check-in. You take possession on arrival, transport it to the campus in your car, and use it across the workday. At checkout, leave the scooter at the same bell stand; we pick it up next morning.
For employee accommodations, delivery can go to the employee’s home instead of a hotel — common for KC-resident employees recovering from surgery.
What we are and aren’t
We’re a hospitality rental service. We supply equipment for the duration you need it. We’re not a Durable Medical Equipment provider — no insurance billing, no prescription required, no clinical paperwork. For any rentals tied to a formal ADA accommodation, the equipment side is our role; the accommodation framing is internal to your HR team.
Pricing
