Oracle Cerner’s Kansas City footprint is one of the largest corporate campuses in the metro. Realization Campus on Marion Park Drive in south Kansas City and Innovations Campus on Hillcrest Road comprise hundreds of thousands of square feet of office space across multiple buildings, parking decks, and inter-building walkways. Employees who’d never think twice about walking across a typical office can find a long Cerner workday genuinely physically taxing — and that’s before factoring in a temporary mobility limit, a recent surgery, or a chronic condition that flares up under sustained activity.
This page exists for three audiences: HR coordinators arranging a temporary accommodation, employees coordinating their own return-to-work logistics, and visiting executives or trainees coming through Kansas City for a week or month at the campus.
When mobility delivery makes sense at Cerner
Three scenarios drive most of our Cerner-related rentals:
Post-surgery return-to-work. An employee scheduled for knee, hip, foot, or back surgery has a defined recovery window where they’re cleared to work but not cleared to walk significant distances. A monthly mobility scooter rental covers the period between “cleared to drive to the office” and “cleared to walk the building.” HR can arrange this directly with us, or the employee can rent and submit for reimbursement under the company’s accommodation policy.
Executive visits. Cerner hosts visiting customer-side executives, partners, and senior employees from other Oracle locations regularly. Multi-day visits routinely involve full days on campus across multiple buildings — easily 8,000-12,000 steps for someone trying to keep up with a packed agenda. For older visitors, visitors with cardiac considerations, or anyone managing energy through a meeting-heavy week, a hotel-delivered scooter changes the trip.
Multi-week training rotations. New-hire orientation cohorts, multi-team training rotations, and product immersion programs that put employees on campus for 2-6 weeks at a stretch are another regular use case. Same workflow: hotel delivery at the start of the rotation, pickup at the end.
How the rental works for an employee accommodation
For HR-arranged rentals:
- HR contacts us with the dates, the employee’s general accommodation context (just enough for us to recommend the right scooter model — no medical detail required), and the billing arrangement.
- We deliver to the employee’s home or to a campus reception desk before the accommodation start date.
- We service issues during the rental — battery questions, controller settings, comfort adjustments — directly with the employee.
- We pick up when the accommodation period ends. Most HR teams bill the rental to the corporate card under accommodation expenses; some prefer employee-paid with reimbursement. Either works.
For employee-arranged rentals (paying yourself, possibly with reimbursement):
- Reserve online under the employee’s own name.
- Pick a delivery location — home or hotel both work.
- Submit the invoice to HR if your accommodation policy allows reimbursement. Our invoices are clean, professional, and audit-ready.
What we don’t do
Three explicit non-services worth naming so there’s no confusion:
- We’re not a DME provider. No insurance billing, no Medicare/Medicaid, no prescription required, no clinical documentation. The rental is a hospitality service — like renting a car for the week.
- We don’t give accommodation advice. For policy questions, ADA legal questions, or whether a rental scooter is the right accommodation for a specific situation, work with the employee’s HR business partner. We supply equipment; the accommodation framing is internal.
- We don’t disclose to employers. When the employee is paying directly, the rental is confidential between us and the renter. The employer sees only what the employee shares with them.
Equipment
Our standard travel scooter (Pride Go-Go series) and full-size scooter (Pride Victory 10) cover most workplace use cases. Travel models are easier to store and recharge in a typical office cubicle or shared workstation; full-size models give more comfortable seating for a full 8-9 hour workday. Weight capacities range from 250 to 400 lbs across our fleet. We’ll match the model to the employee’s situation during booking.
Pricing
Daily rates run $45-$60 depending on model. Weekly rates ($180-$240) represent the best per-day cost for visits of 4+ days. Monthly rates are negotiated based on duration; reach us directly for a multi-week or multi-month quote.
