The American Legion has a real, longstanding presence across the Kansas City metro — Jarchow-Schroeder Post 61 in the Northland, Post 199 on Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas, and posts scattered through the rest of the metro, each running its own calendar of meetings, fundraisers, and community events. If you’re a member, an officer, or part of the wider Legion Family, this page is about making sure equipment access is never the reason someone misses one of them.

To be clear up front: we’re not affiliated with The American Legion, and nothing here should be read as an official partnership. We’re a veteran-owned rental company that’s glad to serve the Legion community — a service relationship, not a sponsorship.

Who this page is for

Legionnaires who need mobility equipment for a meeting, a color guard or honor guard detail, a fish fry or fundraiser, a district or department event, or simply everyday use. Posts run active calendars, and a rental scooter or wheelchair means a member doesn’t have to sit out something they’d otherwise attend.

The wider Legion Family — Auxiliary members and Sons of The American Legion included. We don’t gate the booking process by which part of the Legion Family you belong to; if you’re connected to a post, this page is for you.

Post officers and event coordinators planning something larger than a single member’s need — a fish fry, an oratorical contest, a post anniversary, or hosting a district or department meeting. If more than one attendee might need equipment, we’ll set up a group reservation.

Family members attending a Legion event with a veteran parent, spouse, or relative who could use extra mobility support for the day — no membership or connection to the post required to book on someone else’s behalf.

Straightforward pricing, no membership tier

We don’t run a discount specifically for Legion members, and we don’t run one for anyone else either. Every price on our equipment pages is the real rate — no quote-gating, no code to hunt down, no “call for pricing.” If you’re used to comparing an advertised member discount against a hidden base rate, compare our published number instead; there’s nothing behind it to discover later.

What we offer

Mobility scooters, manual wheelchairs, transport chairs, knee scooters, and a rollator. Delivery goes to your home, hotel, or — when the post’s access allows — directly to the post itself for a meeting or event. No prescription or insurance paperwork required in any case; this is a hospitality rental, not a medical service.

Delivery across the metro

We serve the full Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line, including the Northland and Kansas City, Kansas, where several active posts are based. Same-day delivery is available for orders placed before 2 p.m. local time when capacity allows — useful for a member who decides at the last minute they’ll need equipment for that evening’s meeting or a funeral honors assignment that came up with short notice.

For post-level events, tell us the post address, the date, and roughly how many attendees might need equipment, and we’ll put together a group reservation billed to a single contact — no need to coordinate individual bookings for each member.

If something comes up during an event — a battery issue, a question about the equipment — call us directly. We’re local, and for group and post events we plan around being reachable for the full day.

What KC visitors say

  • Elks Convention

“It was such a pleasure to work with Jeff at KC Mobility Scooter Rentals. My wife and I were in Kansas City for the Elks Convention. My wife has COPD and we walked every day to get to the convention center. The scooter was a life saver for her. Without a doubt, if you need services they offer, you need to use KC Mobility!”

  • “My husband broke his ankle a few days before we had a trip to Mall of America planned. I called Jeff at KC Mobility Scooter Rentals and he was quick to recommend a solution that was affordable and easy to pick up. The scooter was perfect — reliable, appeared to be brand new, and made our trip quite a success! Crabby, immobile husband and Dad…to Cool Guy Dad…getting high-fives for being a genius the entire trip!”

  • “Jeff was absolutely incredible to work with. I was able to reach him about midnight on a Saturday night — my mother-in-law could not understand how to work her wheelchair. He had a wheelchair delivered to her care facility by 9 AM on Sunday morning. That's amazing and totally unheard of these days. I needed to extend the use time two different times and he was totally easy to work with. I highly highly recommend them for any mobility needs you may have.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KC Mobility Scooter Rentals affiliated with The American Legion?
No. We're an independent, veteran-owned rental company, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The American Legion. We welcome opportunities to support Legion members and posts — that's a service relationship, not an official partnership.
Do you offer a discount for Legion members?
We don't run a separate discount for Legion members or anyone else — every renter sees the same published rate. See our veteran page for the full reasoning.
Can a post reserve multiple scooters for an event like a fish fry, fundraiser, or oratorical contest?
Yes. Tell us the number of attendees who may need equipment, the event date, and the post address, and we'll put together a group reservation on a single invoice billed to your post.
Does this cover the Auxiliary and Sons of The American Legion too?
Yes — anyone connected to the Legion Family is welcome to book, whether it's a Legionnaire, an Auxiliary member, or a member of the Sons of The American Legion. Our booking process doesn't distinguish between them; it's the same simple reservation either way.
Can equipment be delivered directly to a post for a meeting?
In most cases, yes, if the post has reasonable drop-off access during business hours. Tell us the address when you book and we'll confirm the delivery plan.
What if a member needs a scooter on short notice for a funeral honors detail or unexpected event?
Call us directly. We plan for same-day delivery on orders placed before 2 p.m. local time when capacity allows, which covers most short-notice post needs.
