Disabled American Veterans exists to serve members who live with a service-connected disability, which means mobility equipment isn’t an occasional convenience for a lot of DAV members and their families — it’s a real, practical need tied to travel, medical appointments, and everyday life. We want to be direct about what we can and can’t offer here. We are a hospitality rental company, not a medical provider. We don’t evaluate disability, we don’t bill the VA or any insurance, and nothing on this page should be read as medical guidance. What we do offer is straightforward: equipment that shows up clean, on time, and at a published price, no matter what brought you to needing it.

We are not affiliated with DAV in any official capacity — not a partner, not a sponsor, not endorsed. We’re a veteran-owned local business that’s glad to serve the community DAV represents.

Who this page is for

DAV members who need equipment for daily use or a specific trip — a mobility scooter, a manual wheelchair, or a transport chair for a family outing, a VA appointment, or simply getting around more comfortably day to day.

Families visiting a veteran receiving care, particularly near the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth, Kansas — a few minutes from our home base. If you’re flying or driving in to be with someone during treatment or recovery, and you or another family member could use mobility support for the visit, that’s exactly the kind of rental we handle regularly.

DAV chapters planning a meeting or event where equipment access for one or more attendees matters. We handle group reservations the same way for chapters as we do for VFW posts and American Legion posts — a single invoice, billed to whoever your chapter designates.

Caregivers coordinating on a member’s behalf — you don’t need to be the rider to book. Tell us who the equipment is for and where it needs to go.

What we actually offer, described honestly

Manual wheelchairs (standard weight, 30–40 lbs — not an ultralight or bariatric model), transport chairs, mobility scooters, knee scooters, and a rollator. We don’t carry electric or power wheelchairs, and we don’t carry bariatric or oversized models. If what you need doesn’t match what we offer, we’d rather tell you that up front than have you find out on delivery day — call us and we’ll be straight about whether we’re the right fit.

No prescription, no insurance claim, no proof of disability rating required to book. The rental works the same way for every renter regardless of why they need the equipment.

Pricing, without a member tier

We don’t offer a DAV member discount, and we don’t offer one for anyone else. Every rate is published on our equipment pages before you book — the same number whether you’re a DAV member, a family member booking on someone’s behalf, or a first-time visitor to the site.

Delivery near the VA and across the metro

Our home base in Leavenworth, Kansas puts us close to the Eisenhower VA Medical Center, and we deliver there regularly for families and members with business at the hospital. We also serve the full Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line, with same-day delivery available for orders placed before 2 p.m. local time when capacity allows.

If a question comes up about whether our equipment is the right fit for a specific situation, call us before you book. We’d rather have that conversation up front than send equipment that doesn’t actually help.

What KC visitors say

  • Elks Convention

“It was such a pleasure to work with Jeff at KC Mobility Scooter Rentals. My wife and I were in Kansas City for the Elks Convention. My wife has COPD and we walked every day to get to the convention center. The scooter was a life saver for her. Without a doubt, if you need services they offer, you need to use KC Mobility!”

  • “My husband broke his ankle a few days before we had a trip to Mall of America planned. I called Jeff at KC Mobility Scooter Rentals and he was quick to recommend a solution that was affordable and easy to pick up. The scooter was perfect — reliable, appeared to be brand new, and made our trip quite a success! Crabby, immobile husband and Dad…to Cool Guy Dad…getting high-fives for being a genius the entire trip!”

  • “Jeff was absolutely incredible to work with. I was able to reach him about midnight on a Saturday night — my mother-in-law could not understand how to work her wheelchair. He had a wheelchair delivered to her care facility by 9 AM on Sunday morning. That's amazing and totally unheard of these days. I needed to extend the use time two different times and he was totally easy to work with. I highly highly recommend them for any mobility needs you may have.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KC Mobility Scooter Rentals affiliated with DAV?
No. We're an independent, veteran-owned rental company — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Disabled American Veterans. We're glad to serve DAV members and chapters, but that's a service relationship, not an official partnership.
Is this a medical equipment provider, or does it work with insurance and the VA?
No — we're a hospitality rental company, not a medical provider. We don't bill insurance, Medicare, or VA benefits, and we don't process any kind of medical claim. Renting from us works like renting a car: you pay directly, no paperwork, no prescription required.
Do you offer a discount for DAV members?
We don't run a separate discount for DAV members or anyone else. Every renter sees the same published rate up front. See our veteran page for why we set it up that way.
Can you deliver near the Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth?
Yes — we're based in Leavenworth, Kansas, close to the Eisenhower VA Medical Center, and deliveries there for a family visiting someone receiving care, or for a member with an appointment, are common for us.
Can a DAV chapter reserve equipment for a meeting or event?
Yes. We handle multi-unit reservations for chapters on a single invoice — tell us the event date, location, and roughly how many attendees might need equipment.
Is the wheelchair lightweight, and does it recline?
Our manual wheelchair is a standard-weight chair (30–40 lbs), not an ultralight model, and it doesn't recline. We also don't carry bariatric or electric wheelchairs. If you're unsure whether our equipment fits a specific need, call us — we'll tell you plainly rather than guess.
