A free holiday town square, built by Hallmark, in the middle of Kansas City
Every weekend from Thanksgiving through Christmas, Hallmark turns Crown Center Square into a holiday town square with light displays, artist-led workshops, local vendors, and Hallmark Channel stars on stage. General admission is free; ticketed packages add access to the stage shows and, for the top tier, a meet-and-greet breakfast with the stars. With or without a ticket, the square itself (the lights, the vendors, the atmosphere) is open to everyone, which makes this one of the most accessible big holiday events in the city for an extended family group with mixed mobility needs.
Why this event is easy to plan a scooter rental around
Crown Center Square sits at the heart of the Crown Center complex, directly connected by indoor walkway to the Westin Kansas City at Crown Center and the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. That means the entire path from your hotel room to the edge of the holiday town square can be indoors and weather-protected, with only the plaza itself outdoors. Compare that to most KC holiday events, which require a full outdoor walk from parking to the venue. This one does not.
Which hotel: the Westin or the Sheraton?
Either works. Both connect to Crown Center Square by the same indoor walkway, so the scooter does not go outside until you reach the plaza. The Westin has one extra advantage for a car-free trip: the KC Streetcar stops across the street, free and accessible, so the rest of downtown is a short ride away without moving a car.
How delivery works
Standard hotel-delivery workflow, simplified by the indoor connection:
- Reserve the scooter and your Westin or Sheraton Crown Center stay separately. Tell us a little about who is riding (height, weight, how far they can comfortably walk) so we match the scooter to the person.
- We deliver to the hotel bell stand before your check-in, tagged with your name.
- Roll straight to the square via the indoor walkway. You stay inside until you reach the plaza itself.
- Enjoy the lights, the vendors, and (if ticketed) the stage shows at your own pace.
- Back to the room the same way, charging overnight for a return visit the next evening if your trip spans more than one Hallmark Christmas Experience weekend.
- We pick it up from the hotel after checkout. Nothing to return on travel day.

Cold-weather and outdoor planning
Crown Center Square is a paved outdoor plaza with some covered areas. A standard four-wheel scooter handles dry pavement, light snow, and cold temperatures without trouble. Bundle up, and the equipment will keep up with you. Ice is the real caution here, the same way gravel and mud are the caution at an outdoor fall event: a slick plaza is a hazard for any wheeled mobility device. If freezing rain or an ice event is in the forecast for your visit, call us. We would rather help you shift your evening than send you out onto ice.
Combine it with the rest of Crown Center and nearby attractions
A Hallmark Christmas Experience evening pairs naturally with a full Crown Center day: Sea Life Aquarium, Legoland Discovery Center, and the free Hallmark Visitors Center are all indoor-connected to the square. The Mayor's Christmas Tree and the Crown Center ice terrace typically run on an overlapping holiday schedule in the same plaza area, so many families combine a tree-lighting visit, an evening at the ice terrace rail, and a Hallmark Christmas Experience evening into one trip. From there, the skywalk to Union Station puts Science City, the Planetarium, and the National WWI Museum and Memorial within the same scooter rental.
Booking timeline
Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable for most weekends. For the opening weekend after Thanksgiving and the final weekends before Christmas (the two heaviest-traffic windows), three to four weeks ahead is safer, especially if you also want to lock in a room at the Westin or Sheraton for the indoor-connected delivery.
