This is a short page, deliberately. Baker publishes less about commencement than most schools on our list, and we would rather tell you that plainly than pad it out with guesses.
What is published
Commencement is at the George F. Collins Jr. Sports & Convention Center ("Collins Gym") at 524 Sixth Street, Baldwin City. Graduates check in at Mabee Memorial Hall Gymnasium, 605 Sixth Street, and the processional enters via the Sixth Street entrance. Overflow guests are directed to Rice Auditorium, 404 Eighth Street, for the livestream. That is worth knowing, because if your party arrives late and gets sent to overflow, it is a different building several blocks away.
The one accessibility sentence Baker publishes, under "Special Needs":
"Seating for guests in wheelchairs or for whom walking is difficult is available on a first-come, first-served basis."
That is short but genuinely useful. First-come means arriving early is the whole strategy. There is nothing to reserve. For questions about seating limitations, Baker gives academicaffairs@bakerU.edu, though it does not present that as an ADA contact.
Timing is spring only, mid-May. No December ceremony.
What we cannot tell you
Three honest gaps:
The date has conflicted on Baker's own site. The commencement page gave "Sunday, May 17, 2026" while the academic calendar listed "May 15, 2026 (Fri) — Commencement Ceremony." Because of that, we will not state a day-of-week pattern beyond mid-May. No 2027 date is published, and the date shown on this page is only an estimate. Confirm it with Baker before booking travel.
Baker publishes no start times at all on its current commencement page, and refers to "ceremonies" in the plural. Historically it has run separate ceremonies for different schools. Ask which ceremony and what time.
There is no working parking or venue map. Baker's "Graduate Check-In & Ceremony Map" PDF returns a 404. We checked both the live link and the archived copy. That means we have no basis whatsoever for telling you where accessible parking or drop-off is, and anything we wrote about Baker's lots would be invention. The only parking text Baker publishes is graduate-facing: "Please allow sufficient time to travel to Baldwin City, find parking, and arrive with cap and gown."
Call the university at 785.594.6451 and ask three things: the date and time, where accessible parking is, and where the wheelchair seating is in Collins.
Getting equipment there
Baldwin City is roughly 50 miles southwest of Kansas City, well outside our usual metro service area. We do deliver for events like this, but it needs more notice than a metro booking and delivery is quoted separately, so call us well ahead rather than in commencement week.
Given first-come seating and an unmapped parking lot, this is a ceremony where arriving early and unhurried matters more than most. If someone in your party is slow over distance, having their own scooter or chair is what makes an early arrival comfortable rather than exhausting.
