What we are not
Worth saying first, because it decides whether we are any use to you. We are a hospitality rental company, not a DME provider. We do not take prescriptions, we do not bill Medicare or any insurer, we hold no patient information, and we do not advise on what equipment someone should use — that stays with you and the physical therapist. We also do not rent electric or power wheelchairs.
If your patient qualifies for equipment under their benefit, that is the right path and we are not competing with it.
Where we actually help
The cases that fall outside the benefit, which you see every week:
- The approved chair has not arrived. Authorization went through and delivery is a week or two out, but discharge is tomorrow.
- The need is short. A few weeks of recovery that will not meet an in-home mobility-need test, so it was never going to be covered.
- Family is coming to help. A son or daughter flying in for ten days who needs a chair or a rollator while they are here.
- Getting out of the house. A scooter so someone can manage a follow-up appointment, a grandchild's graduation or a family event. DME does not fund that at all.
- A second piece for a second floor, or a transport chair for the car when the home chair is not portable.
When not to call us
A planner's name is on the referral, so we would rather be direct about the limits than have you find out afterwards. Do not send someone to us if:
- They need a power or electric wheelchair — we do not rent them.
- They need a fitted or custom chair, pressure-relief seating, or anything requiring clinical measurement. Ours is standard rental equipment.
- The equipment needs to be billed to insurance. We take payment from the family, and we cannot produce anything that a payer will reimburse.
- They need bariatric capacity beyond a standard chair.
How it works
You give the family our number, or hand them a card. That is the whole of your involvement — no form, no portal, no order to place, nothing in the chart.
The family calls us. We deliver to the home, cleaned and ready, same-day across the metro when we are called by early afternoon, which is usually the part that matters on a discharge day. We bill the family directly and collect when they are finished. If they only need it for ten days, they pay for ten days.
We rent manual wheelchairs, lightweight transport chairs, rollators and walkers, knee scooters, and mobility scooters. Delivery covers the Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line.
No commission, in either direction
We do not pay referral fees to anyone, in any program, and we would not ask a clinician to take one. There is nothing to disclose, nothing for compliance to review, and no arrangement for anyone to have an opinion about. You would simply be giving a family a phone number.
Cards for the desk
If it is useful, we will drop off printed cards for the discharge desk or a resource folder — the sort of thing that goes into a going-home packet. Tell us how many and where, and there is no cost. Call 913-775-1098 and you will get Jeff, who owns the business and does the deliveries.
