Smithville is a lake town. Smithville Lake, a Corps of Engineers reservoir just northeast of downtown, draws people for boating, fishing, camping, summer beaches and golf. The parks around the shore are large, and getting from a parking lot to a beach, a dock or a picnic shelter can take a while. A scooter or wheelchair lets everyone in the group come along for the whole day.
Where we deliver in Smithville
We bring equipment to homes, short-term rentals and lake cabins in Smithville and the nearby communities of Ferrelview, Edgerton, Trimble and Gower. Delivery goes to where you are staying. If you would like the equipment waiting at a venue, such as a wedding site or event barn, that is available on request for an added $50–$75.
The drive from our shop
Our Leavenworth shop is about 39 minutes from Smithville, north and east through Platte County. We set the equipment up where you will use it, show you how it works, and come back for it when your rental ends.
Around the lake
Clay County Parks runs two swim beaches, at Camp Branch on the east side and Little Platte on the west side. The beaches close for the cold months and reopen in spring. Camp Branch Marina and Paradise Pointe Marina both have boat slips and docks, and Paradise Pointe Golf Complex has two 18-hole courses and hosts weddings and events. The Jerry L. Litton Visitor Center, near the dam, tells the story of the lake and the area, with an aquarium and a bird viewing room. Call ahead for current hours.
Downtown
Downtown Smithville is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its Main Street district has local shops and restaurants, street parking, and seasonal events like a wine walk and holiday market. The blocks are compact, which makes it an easy outing on a scooter.
