How Mobility Scooter Delivery Works for Memorial Stadium Visits
Standard hotel-delivery workflow. We deliver to your Lawrence (or Kansas City–area) hotel before your check-in window, the scooter is tagged with your name, and the bell stand or front desk holds it until you arrive. The scooter is yours for the entire weekend — game day, tailgate, dinner, and any campus visits.
For game days, plan personal-vehicle or rideshare transport from the hotel to the stadium’s accessible parking lots. The scooter loads into accessible vehicles and most SUVs/minivans. Once at the stadium, the scooter rides through the accessible entry, the concourse, and parks beside your accessible seat for the game.
Accessibility at Memorial Stadium
David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium has been substantially upgraded for current accessibility standards:
- Accessible parking adjacent to the stadium for state-issued accessibility permits. Day-of parking maps published by KU Athletics on game day.
- Accessible main entries with automatic doors and level approach.
- Accessible-seating sections distributed across the bowl — east side, west side, and end zones — with companion seats and adjacent personal-mobility-device space. Allocate accessible-seating tickets through KU Athletics for football, or through the KU Commencement office for graduation.
- Elevators to upper concourse levels.
- Accessible restrooms on every concourse level.
- Wheelchair / scooter loaner program — KU Athletics has a small loaner program for game-day accessibility needs, but supply is limited and not guaranteed. A pre-reserved rental from us is the reliable plan.
KU Commencement at Memorial Stadium
Commencement at Memorial Stadium is a different scale than a football game. The Walk Down the Hill procession from the Campanile concludes at the stadium, where the main ceremony is held on the field. Family parties seated in accessible-seating sections see the procession enter and the graduates take their assigned positions on the field.
For Commencement-day mobility planning, see our dedicated KU Commencement / Walk Down the Hill guide.
Tailgating with a scooter
KU football tailgating happens in the parking lots surrounding the stadium and across adjacent campus areas. A scooter is a meaningful upgrade for tailgaters with mobility limits — the range covers a full pre-game tailgate plus the in-stadium experience without battery anxiety.
Surfaces vary: paved lots are easy, grass areas need standard care (avoid mud, take it slow on uneven ground). Most family tailgates pick a paved spot specifically to accommodate the scooter user.
Best Lawrence hotel for a Memorial Stadium visit
The Oread Hotel is closest to the stadium. The Eldridge Hotel is the downtown social hub. Hampton Inn Lawrence and Hilton Garden Inn Lawrence are practical chain-brand alternatives. For Kansas City–based visitors, the drive to Lawrence is ~45 minutes without traffic; on game days plan an extra 30 minutes.
